The renowned Café Casino of Santiago de Compostela was the setting for the presentation of the book 50 books of historic cafés in Spain and Portugal last Thursday 11December, a work by the journalist and writer Fernando Franjo. Cafés Candelas collaborated in the publication of the book, edited by Alvarellos Editora publishing house.
The author, Fernando Franjo, participated in the group discussion which served as its presentation, together with the head of Alvarellos Editora, Quique Alvarellos, and the writer Suso de Toro. Furthermore, during the meeting, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy coffees and blended coffees prepared by the Head of Training of Cafés Candelas, José Manuel Portela.

The Peninsula's historic cafés are for the first time the protagonists of a printed publication. Fifty living museums which have been reunited in a unique travel book. A historic, literary and human tour illustrated with 330 photos and documents of the period. The book has 214 pages illustrated with 330 photos and features a prologue by Antonio Bonet Correa.
The route starts at the Café Casino, in Santiago de Compostela, and ends at el Comercial, in Madrid. The tour has different stops, describing and illustrating the history and distinctive features of legendary coffee places in the peninsula, such as Café del Centro in Lugo, the Derby in Santiago, Dindurra, in Gijón, Iruña in Bilbao, Royalty in Cádiz, A Brasileira in Lisbon, O Mayestic in Porto, or Novelty in Salamanca or Gijón in Madrid.
